Yes, I am enjoying the Book of Negros mini series also. Quite good I think, although there was a lot more in the book but I guess they have to cut it somewhere - it was a rather long book!

I guess we are all getting similar weather in this corner of the world. I could skip winters altogether, although too many things in this neck of the woods tether me here at this point. I went to Cuba again this fall - stay tuned for a travel blog to cover that trip - you might want to consider a trip there to break up the winter as you might just find it interesting enough for a good amount of time. Things are changing there though - and if/when the USA removes the blockade we will see real change I am sure - so you may want to do that sooner rather than later so you can see Cuba as it is today.Peggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909913811643561413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-26724873249281642382015-01-13T20:00:04.996-05:002015-01-13T20:00:04.996-05:00Well, you said you hoped to become more active on ...Well, you said you hoped to become more active on the sea of blogs, Peggy, and it seems you are on the way to doing just that. It is nice to see your posts once again .... to read your words and to enjoy the views from your windows.

I think you and I are experiencing pretty much the same weather. Snowfall has been spotty, but frigid days and nights are the rule rather than the exception. I keep saying I have had enough winters for this lifetime, but I never seem to be able to carry out an actual move once warm weather returns. This summer .... maybe. The problem is that I cannot think of a place "down south" where I would wish to live.

Take care ....
Fram Actualhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01540773153894050197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-72345816920798887742014-02-20T03:15:34.309-05:002014-02-20T03:15:34.309-05:00Hi there, this weekend is pleasant in favor of me,...Hi there, this weekend is pleasant in favor of me, for the
reason that this moment i am reading this enormous educational post here at my home.

my webpage - web site ()Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-8060450702236006472013-06-24T13:41:36.801-04:002013-06-24T13:41:36.801-04:00Olá,

A few folks followed along regularly, and many, like you, popped in to catch up now and again. I also now have a record of my travels and the nicest momento to look back on in times when that trip is just a fading memory.

I got into my Shangri-La last week and checked things out and it is not as bad as it might have been. The bedroom door will need to be replaced, but beyond that there is no other damage and nothing that a good cleaning won't solve. I am looking forward to spending much of the next month up on Georgian Bay in my kayak. I found out that I will be back at work on the 20th of August, so it will be nice to be up there until then.

My Abby is a real charmer! A bit of work at the moment, she is really a baby at 10 weeks, but it will get easier by the week. I am arranging for a dog walker to come in once I start work, at least until she is old enough to be left all day.

I have a lot of "housekeeping" to do on my blog and for sure I will add your new site to my blog roll. I have been following your blog for a few years now and have seen what wonderful skill you have developed with your camera! Keep up the good work. Now that I am back I will have more time to surf the blogsphere and visit my friends there and your blog is one of the ones on the top of my list.Peggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909913811643561413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-73460332626323174562012-07-20T09:14:00.859-04:002012-07-20T09:14:00.859-04:00I caught snippets, here and there, of your travels...I caught snippets, here and there, of your travels. I hope to find the time to read more of your travel blog. I'm sorry that your travels have been cut short. I am even more sorry that someone may have damaged your Collingwood Shangri-La. I hope that you find the damages not severe. Abby is a pretty dog; nice name too. We had a dog several years ago named Abby. She was a different breed but had same colors as your Abby.

Please add my new blog address to your blog roll!Linda G.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10734059475022760098noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-62741772005026409022012-07-18T08:01:59.912-04:002012-07-18T08:01:59.912-04:00Fram, thanks for popping by! Adjusting back from the Gyspy's life back to normal day to day routines is going to be a bit of a challenge. But I am able to take it a bit slower as I still have some time left on my sabbatical. Lucky too to have my Collingwood Shangri-La to enjoy this summer as well.

Warsaw, eh (not surprised), and Berlin? hmmm, will need to hear more about Berlin, I may be heading that way in the next few years myself. But my next big adventure (not counting East Coast Canada either this summer or next(, will be Peru, hopefully next year. So yes, it is your turn next if you are travelling next Oct.

As to Harry's Bar, I guess you didn't catch my response to your question/comment on the June 25th blog. No, sadly I didn't get there. My Hemingway trail is far but over though (I missed more than this one haunt of his in Europe), and so it will be for next time.

I am so excited to have this puppy, although I had forgotten how much work they are! Out of necessity I am pretty much tethered fo one location because of work (not enjoying the good life of retirement yet like some I know LOL) and having a buddy home when I arrive at the end of a day really is wonderful.

Take Care Fram!Peggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909913811643561413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-13746922133527652142012-07-18T03:17:19.273-04:002012-07-18T03:17:19.273-04:00Congratulations, Peggy, on what must have been a j...Congratulations, Peggy, on what must have been a journey of a lifetime.

I think it will be my turn again next. Seb especially just blew me away.

While I like most of the songs on this CD, I'm torn between Crying and Come What May as my favorites. Unfortunately the world is not always a nice place, and we have to deal with reality. There's always going to be trade off though. A bad decision for some will be a prosperous opportunity for others. They are an eyesore perhaps like no other, and they kill birds to a degree done probably by no other man-made device including aircraft at airports.

I cannot recall the words exactly, but in his novel, "Centennial," James Michener wrote that there is a literal war in progress between those who would destroy the environment and those who would preserve it. Of course, as in all losses both personal and those less personal, in time it will hurt less.

I agree, with the passing of time these sad memories, mine so small in comparison with 9/11, or Pearl Harbour or any number of the many larger scale tragedies we see in our lives, will move to the back of my memory and be replaced by newer vivid memories - some sad but hopefully some that are very joyous.

Thanks again for your thoughts today Fram. Possibly, the closest thing to this was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Now, seventy years later, it is hardly remembered and really not commemorated other than at the site of the attack itself.

In a sense, I am more touched by your words about Bella. Yes, I have to be mindful that my Dad could at any point take a turn for the worst and I would have to fly back to look after things.

That said, I think I have it covered in that I have a really close girlfriend with spare room with which I could bunk with for a bit in a pinch while I gave the person living in my Toronto condo reasonable notice to move out. Well, I came back to America and spent last summer discarding about ninety-nine percent of my possessions, including a house and most of the furniture. But, I am still here for a variety of reasons, primarily because obligations arise to tie a person down and/or the unexpected can happen.

For those reason, I have decided some manner of permanent "base camp" must be maintained. Unless you are a gambler, Peggy, I would suggest you keep one "roof" available to have over your head and which is there to move into at a moment's notice.

Beyond that, from your description, you certainly seem to be preparing well for your adventure, and I think you will have a great time.Fram Actualhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01540773153894050197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456746777220655920.post-82438473392031983452011-08-21T14:09:52.679-04:002011-08-21T14:09:52.679-04:00Thanks for visiting Eric!
