Fire and Water
Please note that my blog title seems to be stuck in some sort of Arabic (?) translation mode which I have no clue how to undo LOL

A few weeks ago, when Barb and I visited Beba (See this Blog), I discovered that Beba was into astrology. We ladies had a very enjoyable hour or two over wine, discussing astrology and our astrological signs. But wait a minute - it was not the normal "What sign are you?" - "I am a Leo" chat.

I was born between July 24rd and August 23rd so I am a Leo. Of course, everybody knows their Sun sign and what it "means". In the conversation we had, I discovered that in "real" astrology, the important thing is not the month that you were born. The central question is the position of both the Sun and the Moon in relationship to the Earth at the moment of your birth. Just as there are Sun signs, naming the influence depending on the position of the Sun as the Earth orbits it in a standard year, astrology divides the positions of the moon as it travels through its orbit around the Earth, into Moon signs, identifying the various positions that it is in

Of course, the Moon takes a few days less than a month to orbit the Earth, so these Moon signs are not easily identified to a calendar month. Also, it changes from one sign to another at a different time of the day, depending on the day. You need to refer to a chart (or an online site set up to do this) to find out what the Moon position is on any given day in the past in order to figure out your Moon Sign. So Moon signs are not as easy to figure out as your Sun sign.

If you want to calculate your moon sign go here.

Your Moon Sign together with your Sun Sign provide a specific influence on you depending on the position at your moment of birth. Your Sun sign tends to influence "the outer you" and your Moon sign tends to influence the "inner you" - together they create a unique influence, so you also need to look at both signs together

In actual fact it is the combination of all the heavenly bodies which need to be taken into account, which why it is such a big deal to have a full astrological chart done. For me though (and seemingly Beba), the Sun - Moon sign is good enough.

So here is the low down on my astrological signs:

From the iVillage Website:
My sun sign is Leo:
Leo is the fifth Sign of the Zodiac. These folks are impossible to miss, since they love being center stage. Making an impression is Job One for Leos, and when you consider their personal magnetism, you see the job is quite easy. Leos are an ambitious lot, and their strength of purpose allows them to accomplish a great deal. The fact that these folks are also creative makes their endeavors fun for them and everyone else. It's quite common to see a Leo on stage or in Hollywood, since these folks never shy away from the limelight. They are also supremely talented and have a flair for the dramatic. Warmth and enthusiasm seems to seep from every Leo pore, making these folks a pleasure to be around. They do love pleasure!

My Moon sign is Pisces:
The Pisces Moon is a sensative and creative Moon, being artistic, intuitive and most probably psychic. This Moon is most assuredly a dreamer. The Pisces Moon keeps emotions hidden, although the inherent extreme sensitivity makes this Moon sympathetic to the plight of the less fortunate and may lead to community service. The Pisces Moon feels all things deeply.

In general, the personality of those whose Moon sign is in Pisces indicates a character driven by emotions. Whatever appeals to these persons will attract them...music, literature or poetry, for example. These are individuals who change their minds very easily and to others, will sometimes give the impression of unreliability. When the "going gets tough," those ruled by a Pisces Moon will become discouraged. They adore change and any form of routine seems to literally drain the life from these persons. There is an easygoing nature here, but there is also a tendency toward श्य्नेस.

And the combination of the Sun sign Leo and the Moon sign Pisces?
The Leo Sun/Pisces Moon combination brings together influences of extremely different natures. Here, the confident majesty of Leo and the more regressive, fluctuating and variable traits inherent in Pisces blend to produce what is usually a very kind-hearted and likeable personality. These souls are genuine in their attempts to make those close to them feel happy and secure. Attuned and very aware, Leo natives governed by a Pisces Moon have the time and possess the necessary sympathy to listen to others and try to help. Being both emotional and sentimental, the advice and counsel of these individuals comes directly from the heart and it is truly difficult for them to remain cool and aloof. It is also hard for them to say "No" to almost any sincere request...a fact which can often prove to be both physically and emotionally draining. The make-up of Leo Sun/Pisces Moon subjects includes intuition to a large degree and they are well aware of their abilities, as well as making every attempt to live up to personal ideals of a high order. Since these individuals are intensely honest, it is far from easy for them to ever fool others...fortunately, it may be equally as hard for others to fool the Leo native ruled by a Pisces Moon for this is a person who possess an exceptional understanding of human nature and motives.

Outwardly, these individuals can appear aggressive and forward, displaying a bubbly and vigorous exterior. Inwardly, however, they are invariably overly-sensitive and sentimental...even brooding and philosophic in some cases. Subject to deep thought and occasional fits of depression, Leo Sun/Pisces Moon natives need many true friends and companions in order for spirits to remain buoyant. In short, these are very serious individuals whose motives are usually of the highest caliber.

I seem to be stuck in some sort of blogger tanslation weird thing. I am going to post as is (I am nearly finished editing) because suddenly as I change bits of text it is translating and inserting the Arabic (?) words into my editor! Even my labels are coming out Arabic!

  1. Okay, now I understand! Interesting post.

  2. The world of astrology that extends beyond the daily newspaper commentary seems very complicated to me, Peggy. When someone begins explaining elements of it, such as you do here, I usually am lost within the first two or three sentences.

On the other hand, I know a couple of young ladies who have become very much entangled in its web, and are complete devotees. It is enjoyable to listen to them explain me to me.

  3. OK, it seems to me that when you were playing around with your settings you pressed the 'enable transliteration' by mistake. Go back to you settings page and 'disable' transliteration. That should bring your body text back to normal.

I'm a Scorpio with a Virgo rising so loved your post very much. I like Leos, I like their temperament and mettle.

    Many thanks.

    Greetings from London.

  4. So, it turns out that my Moon Sign is Aries. There were a couple things it said about Moon-Aries that were TOTALLY spot-on for me:

"To get rid of stress, Moon in Aries need to somehow spend excess energy - to have a run, to punch someone (if not physically then emotionally), or break something."

The best way for me to rid myself of general stress has always been to do physical labor - there's nothing that works better for me and helps me sleep better than to have tired myself out doing something productive.

"Housekeeping may serve as a safety-valve for these people. They have plenty of energy for cleaning, repairing, cooking, but this happens in bursts, and if something isn't completed at the end of such a burst, it will be abandoned until the next time."

This is EXACTLY how I clean and do housework, to a tee. In fact, today's my burst day - so far I've unclogged two drains, weeded the entire front and back yard, and am about to fix some floor mouldings!

I don't necessarily believe or disbelieve astrology one way or the other, but I do find human behavior (including my own) fascinating, so I always enjoy reading about my astrology signs and identifying how much (or how little) of it fits for me. In this case, some of the Moon-Aries stuff is really spot on, but the Leo-Aries combination (as per the website you linked) isn't quite as accurate for me. But that cleaning burst thing is just creepy!
